ICARUS WITCH Premiere “Lightning Strikes”

Icarus Witch are about to hit the road for a few dates including an appearance at Chicago’s Legions of Metal Festival. But before they bring their signature blend of classic melodic metal to the Midwest, the band wanted to premier the high-energy new video for the song “Lightning Strikes” -- the third single from 2018’s critically-acclaimed Cleopatra Records release, Goodbye Cruel World.
“This cut has quickly become a live favorite in the band’s set,” says bassist and founding member, Jason Myers. “It’s based off of one of Quinn’s [Lukas, guitarist] catchiest, most intense riffs and lyrically tells a tale of being struck by passion, finding your inspiration, your spark to carry on even in the darkest times.” Myers adds, “‘Lightning’ captures the essence of where Icarus Witch is in 2019, showcasing the traditional metal roots that have kept us firing for fifteen years yet with a fresh melodic rock sensibility in the way Andrew D’Cagna delivers his vocal hooks and harmonies. It’s heavier than AOR but gives you that same rush. Is AOM a thing?”
In order to reflect the upbeat spirit of this banger on video, the Witch crew took the old school approach of rocking the song out live on stage, complete with a killer laser light show courtesy of drummer Justin Walker’s friends at Strobe Lighting And Sound. The clip was filmed at School of Rock South Hills where Quinn is an instructor. It was shot and edited by Cerebral Audio Productions’ Shane Mayer, the engineer responsible for tracking the lion’s share of the album as well as producing the first video for the title track, “Goodbye Cruel World.”
