It was a sombre moment for the first time on IRON MAIDEN bassist STEVE HARRIS' tour in support of his new solo/side project BRITISH LION. The metal world had learned just a few hours before the concert that original Maiden drummer Clive Burr had passed away at 56, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Playing to over 500 people at the Brewhouse in Gothenburg, Sweden, Harris and his band played a memorable 90 minute set including the new song 'A World Without Heaven' dedicated to Burr who changed the metal world with his pounding rhythms on Iron Maiden, Killers and The Number Of The Beast. In typical Maiden fashion, Harris continued to perform the same set as with previous European gigs, showcasing all of the new British Lion opus, with the classic UFO cover 'Let It Roll' to close off festivities. Despite the air of sadness, Harris was in a great mood being out of his revered Maiden machine, quite comfortable in these tight-knit settings, although his long-distance prancing around the stage reduced to just a few feet in club-mode.

Although Harris kept the set-list clean of any Maiden material, the crowd was appeased with the likes of 'Do You Want It ', 'Karma Killer' and closer ' Eyes Of The Young'. And not shy to wear his influences on his sleeve, the nod to the UFO classic 'Let It Roll' was a welcome break from the barrage of the new material, which sounded better live than on record. And singer Richard Taylor was clearly in a moment with his soaring vocals satisfying the Swedes on a chilly March evening in Scandinavia.
