Jimi Hendrix, born on November 27th, 1942, in Seattle Washington, is one of the world’s most renowned guitarists. He was given his first guitar at 16 and his career took off from there. He was renowned for his electric guitar skills and was known as a pioneer for what is known as ‘shredding’. He then moved to London where he formed the band the Jimi Hendrix Experience. His released many hits such as, “Purple Haze”, “Hear My Train a Comin’” and “All Along the Watch Tower”. Hendrix wild ways and performances also played a major role in his fame, such as, an iconic performance, in 1969 in which he played the guitar with his teeth and for doing things like destroying his guitar or setting it on fire. 

One of his most popular performances was his performance at the Woodstock music festival in 1969, where he was the last performance of the day and performed the Star Spangled Banner. Hendrix has left behind such a great legacy, that his music is still on the charts and being nominated for awards, like ‘Best Blues Albums of 2017’ for ‘Living Blues’ magazine today. There are even games themed around Hendrix and his music online, which has led to the creation of a highly successful online video slot game.

Slash, born on July 23rd, 1965, in Hampstead, London. He is famous for being the guitarist in the award-winning band, Guns ‘n Roses. Slash too, received his first guitar as a teenager. He then met the men who would turn out to be his future band mates. He based his career on icons like Jimi Hendrix. Slash would go on to play in his band Guns ‘n Roses, alongside icons like Michael Jackson and Lenny Kravitz. Guns ‘n Roses are known for hits like “Sweet Child O’ mine”, “Welcome to the Jungle” and  “Paradise City”.

Although Slash became an icon in his own right, 44 years after Jimi Hendrix death, he still, as many others, views Jimi Hendrix as an icon. His wild style of performance, his unique style and his legendary music, has left a great mark on society. Jimi Hendrix legacy lives on today in many ways. His music still makes it onto the charts, he is channeled by many rockstars, similarly to the way Slash did. He is even celebrated in games that are themed around his music and style, exposing younger generations to the legend that is Jimi Hendrix. However, no matter how much time has passed between the peak of their careers and today; there is always the chance for everyone to enjoy their music.
