August 7, 2009, 15 years ago
Yesterday marked the opening of The Bulldog Bash at Long Marston, Warwickshire, which is organised by the British wing of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club and has been held over the last 20 years.
As previously reported by Telegraph.co.uk, police were asked by local council to revoke the event’s licence because it is “associated with serious crime.”
According to Eveshamjournal.co.uk, the chairman of Warwickshire County Council Peter Barnes remarked at the opening: "I welcome the bikers to the county, we have enjoyed the festival for many years and continue to do so; I wish all the visitors a good weekend of festivities. We never have any trouble from the bikers and don’t expect to."
The 2009 event lasts four days and is expected to attract 15,000 people and is headlined by MOTÖRHEAD, UFO and OLIVER/DAWSON SAXON.
