hot flashes news nevermore flotsam and jetsam

Greek-based Rockpages Web Magazine conducted an exclusive interview with FLOTSAM AND JETSAM's frontman Eric A.K Knutson right before the band's show in Athens. Here's an excerpt regarding the band's upcoming record The Cold:

Rockpages.gr: You are about to release a brand new album called The Cold. What can you tell us about it?

Knutson: "It’s kind of different to us…it has a lot in common with Nevermore. Our guitarist, Mark Simpson, wrote the whole album and all I can say is that it’s really powerful. I like it a lot and so far it is my favorite Flotsam record."

Rockpages.gr: Why did you choose that musical direction?

Knutson: "We didn’t do it on purpose…it’s just turned out that way. Mark didn’t write so many thrash riffs and the songs sound heavier…after all, Mark is a huge Nevermore fan (laughs)!"

Rockpages.gr: Why did it take five years to come up with brand new material after Dreams Of Death?

Knutson: "I blamed that mainly on the record label. It is a brand new label, it’s all a new thing to them but they are still trying to give their best. We took some extra time this time to compose the new music, because we didn’t want to rush things. I am glad that we did so because “The Cold” is a killer record and I am sure that you will like it when it will be out."
