The Community Newspaper Group reports:

Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams has denied a claim she had asked for gang crime police to attend the GUNS N’ ROSES concert at the Perth Motorplex later this year.

Contrary to a report, which appeared in this week’s edition of The Sunday Times, Cr Adams said she had not asked for gate searches or extra police at the event, after a bikie brawl at the Motorplex two weeks ago.

Guns N’ Roses will play at the Motorplex on December 11th with more than 10,000 people expected to attend.

Cr Adams said the event should be seen as “a positive” for the town.

“I don’t want to deter people from going to what would be a good event; it is excellent that a world-class band is coming to Kwinana,” she said.

Cr Adams said she expected event organisers to address all potential security risks, including a possible bikie presence, as part of planning for the event.

“I imagine part of the operators’ risk management strategy would be to consider police presence at events like this and perhaps it’s a bit of a wake-up call that they might need added security,” she said.
