MOTÖRHEAD - A Guided Tour of Lemmy's Apartment; Video Available
November 30, 2010, 14 years ago
RollingStone.com has issued the following exclusive report:
There are few characters in rock history more deserving of a full-blown documentary than Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister. Not only has he led MOTÖRHEAD for an incredible 35 years, he's also been a member of HAWKWIND, a roadie for JIMI HENDRIX, a fixture of the L.A. metal scene for the past two decades and a rock fan since the 1950s.
Lemmy will hit theaters in select US cities in mid-January, and on February 15th it will be available on DVD, Blu-Ray and as a digital download. It features DAVE GROHL, ALICE COOPER, SLASH and many others talking about Lem's legendary status, and features extensive interview footage with Lemmy himself.
In this exclusive preview from the film, we get a guided tour of Lemmy's memorabilia-crammed apartment in Los Angeles: tons of Motörhead memorabilia, as well as a Grammy Award and various plaques, steins, skulls, military helmets, toy tanks, busts and even Lemmy's son, whom he singles out as the most-cherished object in the apartment.
Lemmy: 49% Motherfucker 51% Son Of A Bitch, will see it's North American release on DVD (a 2DVD set with 4 hours of bonus features - more than any other country/region) on February 15th, 2011.
The film will also be available for digital download and on Blu-ray on the same date. The film will hit select North American theaters staring in mid-January.
Lemmy will be released on two-disc DVD and Blu-Ray by Entertainment One in the UK on January 24, 2011.
Lemmy made its world premier in March 2010 during South by Southwest (SXSW) Film and Music Festival in Austin, TX.
Lemmy was directed and produced by Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski, who spent three years shooting the long-awaited documentary. Lemmy captures the 64-year-old embodiment of the sex, drugs and rock and roll lifestyle as he travels the globe, relaxes at home and plays to sold-out audiences from Seattle to Moscow, among several other surprises.
Over more than four decades, the drug-fueled, raspy-voiced Kilmister's career has intersected with many of the touchstone moments in rock: He saw THE BEATLES at the Cavern Club, he served as a roadie for JIMI HENDRIX, he mentored Sid Vicious and played in both Merseybeat and psychedelic rock bands before fusing punk and metal and thus providing the inspiration for thrash metal with Motörhead.
Lemmy finds Kilmister candidly opening up about his life and career, and features appearances by such friends/admirers as METALLICA, DAVE GROHL, SLASH, OZZY OSBOURNE, Billy Bob Thornton and professional wrestler Triple H.

The Wörld Is Yours is a vital, scorching statement of intent from Motörhead as they launch Motörhead Music, their very first record label.
Written and performed by Lemmy Kilmister, Philip Campbell and Mikkey Dee in both Los Angeles, California and Wales, with production once again by Cameron Webb, The Wörld Is Yours serves to remind everyone that you should never stop questioning or critiquing a society that would surely chew you up and spit you if given half a chance. And with ten soul-scorching testaments to the unbridled power this world-famous trio continually maintain, The Wörld Is Yours delivers some of the finest, most important Motörmusic yet.
Recorded during the late spring, the album's creation was thrown into turmoil by the poor health and sad eventual passing of guitarist Philip Campbell's father; the situation dictated that Philip needed to be home during some of the scheduled recording time, so Motörhead hired a studio in Wales where Campbell was able to continue working on ideas and record tracks whilst first Mikkey and Lemmy, and then just Lemmy, laid down the rest of the album in L.A. But being Motörhead, nothing fazed them, and with The Wörld Is Yours the band have triumphed over adversity to produce an absolute stormer of an album.
