Helsinki Metal Meeting - the annual two-day confab (three if you include industry only Thursday) - took place in Helsinki, Finalnd on February 17th-19th, showcasing world class talent, as well as native up and comers, including ACCEPT, the debut of a new Timo Tolkki/Andre Matos project SYMFONIA, TRYPTIKON, a pyro-filled set from SABATON, which chased photographers from the pit, the mysterious GHOST, KVELERTAK, THE MAN EATING TREE, AVATAR, BEFORE THE DAWN, BATTLE BEAST, CORRODED, MYGRAIN, FOR THE IMPERIUM, DEATHSHADE and after a six year absence, VERENPISARA, with features a trio of current AMORPHIS members. Thanks to a Siberian air mass that even the locals felt was too cold, the temperatures remained well below freezing throughout. Good thing the live performances were hot!
