According to a brief update from PORCUPINE TREE frontman Steven Wilson, he completed mixing the new OPETH album a few days ago. Album details are expected to be released via the official Opeth website in the coming days.

In addition, Wilson and Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt "took the opportunity to finish writing our collaboration album (STORM CORROSION) — there’s still a lot of recording work to do, but this should definitely be out in early 2012.”

Wilson also offered the following:

"My solo album still on track for a September release, and I think the next two KING CRIMSON remixes Larks Tongues in Aspic ('73) and Starless and Bible Black ('74) will be out around the same time. I’m now working on new stereo and 5.1 mixes of another very famous ‘70s progressive album for a deluxe reissue this year; can’t say more about that just yet.”

Roadrunner Records UK with Wilson in October 2010 to discuss a variety of subjects, including Storm Corrosion:

"Steven mentions his upcoming sophomore solo album, which features a number of guest - and the possibility of touring that album - in addition to Blackfield and a project with Opeth's Mikael Akerfeldt which has been a full ten years in the making."

Wilson commented on the project via Twitter:

"Don't expect any metal on this one. Nothing like Damnation either, something new and pretty experimental. Coming on nicely so some time in 2011 for sure."
