LACUNA COIL's Cristina Scabbia - "Ozzfest Was The Real Breakthrough Moment For Us"
November 30, 2011, 12 years ago
Greece's Rockpages conducted an exclusive interview with LACUNA COIL's frontwoman Cristina Scabbia before the band's upcoming show in Athens this Saturday. Here's an excerpt:
Rockpages.gr: In your opinion, what is the Lacuna Coil album that gave the big push to the band so as to be famous worldwide?
Cristina Scabbia: "I think that the breakthrough record was Comalies because with it we started to become really popular in America as well. I think that the success in America returned to Europe! So yes...the breakthrough record was definitely Comalies. Nevertheless, in Shallow Life one can find a few singles in there like 'Spellbound'...this was a song that collected more radio spins and gained high chart positions like no other single of ours in the past...even more than 'Our Truth' and 'Heaven's a Lie'.
Rockpages.gr: Can you try to go back in time and tell me the biggest moment in Lacuna Coil's career?
Cristina Scabbia: "It's hard to think of just one moment but I will say that probably Ozzfest was the real breakthrough moment for Lacuna Coil. Playing in a festival in America organized by Ozzy Osbourne was a huge deal for us. The fact that we ended being the second best selling band out of all the bands playing in the festival...you see, there were tents that were selling CDs and merchandise of all the bands of Ozzfest. It was definitely a huge moment for us. That was enough to gain attention from the media, the press and especially the people. So Ozzfest is one of the biggest moments in our career if not the biggest one!"
