USA Today recently conducted a rare interview with VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen and his son/ band bassist Wolfgang. In the interview the guys talk about their relationship as father and son and as musicians. Excerpts from the interview are below:
Eddie Van Halen on the band’s A Different Kind of Truth tour being cut short: "This record took a lot out of us. And we went on tour earlier than we wanted to so we could play Madison Square Garden (in March, before a renovation), and that threw the schedule out of whack."
Eddie Van Halen on the end of the tour and upcoming plans: "So in November we'll hit Japan, and in the New Year we'll possibly do something special, but I can't talk about it."
Wolfgang Van Halen on rumours he plays to a pre-recorded tape: “If some people think that what I'm playing and what I'm singing is so good that it can't possibly be me doing it, then thank you."
Wolfgang Van Halen on people comparing him to his father: “People won't let you be who you are without comparing you to someone else."
