hot flashes news the skull

Maria Voutyriadou and Dimitris Kontogeorgakos of Metal Kaoz recently conducted an interview with THE SKULL's Eric Wagner and Ron Holzner who throw some light in the band's future plans, including writing new material and doing a Christmas show in Chicago to play the new material. An excerpt follows:

Q: Anyways, now you are rehearsing together and playing the old songs; have you ever thought of writing something new?

Eric: "Right now we are talking and we are planning about it; I think it’s a natural progression in any band, plus it’s my favorite thing to do anyway. And that’s the reason for me to be in a band: writing songs and recording them. Playing live and going on a tour for a while is fun, but writing new stuff is what I really like, so I imagine, yes. Everybody has started to work in some new things and I have some new songs to offer."

Ron: "Right now me and Lothar are working on a CD we got from Eric with a bunch of songs and we are going to use them and add our own ideas."

Q: Can we expect something new under The Skull name?

Ron: "Yes, definitely The Skull are gonna write a new record."

Eric: "The Skull, man! By the way, I think it’s cool that name! Every since we thought about how to name the group, first we thought about PSALM 9; that was one of them, but there was that Christian thing and then came The Skull, and I was like 'yeah!'"

Ron: "There are really good vibes since we started this thing; it felt so good when we played live couple of songs on the first installment of Days Of The Doomed two years ago."

Q: Is there a timetable about when The Skull will start working on this debut album?

Eric: "I think after Germany; we have some time before getting ready to play in New York. It will be awesome to have it recorded sometime next year."

Ron: "I’d like to have a demo with at least four or five songs and see how it will go."

Eric: "Maybe after the New Year’s Eve party we will start recording (laughs)."

Ron: "We are thinking about having a Christmas show in Chicago and play the new stuff."
