SUIDAKRA - "Command To Charge Was A Very Important Album For Us"

BW&BK; recently hooked up with SUIDAKRA frontman Arkadius to discuss the band's new album, Caledonia. The following is an excerpt from the interview, with Arkadius discussing the negative feedback the band received for their 2005 album, Command To Charge, and the more folk metal oriented sound of the new album.
“The reaction to Command To Charge was not the reason we went back to this sound," says Arkadius. "The simple reason was when we started writing for Command To Charge we had the feeling that every folk metal riff and melody we came up with we had heard before. There was nothing new or fresh about the music, which is why we went in a heavier, less folk metal direction. But, when it came time to write for Caledonia, me and Marcel (guitars/vocals) just started writing without any idea of which direction we were going to take. We had a lot of melodies and it felt like the old days, so I can say that without Command To Charge there wouldn’t be a Caledonia album. As frustrating as it was, Command To Charge was a very important album for us.”Watch for the full story in BW&BK; #102.
