Meet STATUS QUO's Rick Parfitt At HarrodsRocks Event
February 1, 2007, 17 years ago
The following press release has been posted at STATUS QUO's website:
As part of its exciting Harrods Rocks exhibition, Rick Parfitt will be giving an exclusive demonstration of some of his inimitable guitar techniques at the world-famous store.
The demo - which will be the first time Rick has ever revealed his playing style in this way - will take place on the Second Floor of Harrods, on Saturday, February 10th, commencing at 3 PM.
Rick's solo demonstration promises to be totally unique and is unlikely ever to be repeated. It's a one-off opportunity to see and hear him play, and talk about, his parts from Quo classics including 'Whatever You Want', 'Caroline', 'Mystery Song' and 'Hold Ya Back'.
Immediately after his demo, Rick will conduct a signing session for his Facelift guitar accessory.
No tickets are required for either event, but please note that Rick will only autograph Facelifts purchased from Harrods - and which can be supported by a Harrods till receipt.
Under no circumstances, whatsoever, will Rick be able to sign any other items, whether photographs, CDs, records or any Quo memorabilia.
Harrods Rocks is a celebration of legends, their music and great guitar riffs. During the event, the spirit of rock 'n roll is being channelled throughout the store in celebration of the most iconic instrument of all: the electric guitar.
The centrepiece and inspiration for the event is the extraordinary Born To Rock exhibition - also on the Second Floor - which spans 75 years of rock history with a stunning range of rare and vintage guitars, including the 'Frying Pan', the world's first electric guitar. The collection also features instruments associated with some of rock's greatest guitar icons, including Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Marc Bolan and an amazing selection owned by the legendary Rory Gallagher.
In addition, Rock Couture is a spectacular display of instruments customised by some of the biggest names in music, fashion and design. Treating the guitar as a blank canvas and using materials as diverse as diamonds, religious medals, snakeskin and photographic images, the results are as startling and individual as the artists themselves - among them photographer Peter Linbergh's homage to Keith Richards, a design by Bryan Adams featuring Kate Moss and Chief Dior Homme designer Hedi Slimane's fabulous Swarovski crystal-encrusted Union Jack makeover of a Stratocaster (seen overleaf).

The Facelift, a custom-cut removable and re-usable vinyl overlay for guitar bodies, is produced by Rick's own company, Rockano Productions Limited. Launched at the London Guitar Show in May, 2006, the Facelift has been officially licensed by Fender and won distribution across the world, from the UK to the USA, from Australia to Austria.
It has quickly become the 'must-have' guitar accessory and will be stocked in the Pianos and Musical Instruments department of Harrods throughout the duration of the exhibition.
