BW&BK EXCLUSIVE: OZZY OSBOURNE On RONNIE JAMES DIO - "I Think For His Age, He Is A Much Stronger Singer Than I Ever Thought He Was"
April 27, 2007, 17 years ago
BW&BK; was part of an EXCLUSIVE round-table discussion with OZZY OSBOURNE this past week, prior to him commencing rehearsals for his upcoming world tour which begins on May 27 in Moscow, Russia at Olympissky Stadium. Ozzy is supporting his new album, Black Rain, his first album of new studio material in six years, which is due out via Epic Records on May 22nd.
When asked about the fact that two of his band-mates (guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler) are touring under the moniker HEAVEN AND HELL, even though all the material they are playing live is by BLACK SABBATH, he made the following comment:
"You know, I have nothing to say about that. It is none of my business. I don't wake up in the morning and go, 'fuck, they're calling themselves what?!' Everybody has to make a living. It's what they do. I don't have anything to say about it either way. Tony and I are really good friends now and he told me what he was going to do and I said 'that's fine.' I don't have the right to say anything about Ronnie James Dio. In actual fact, I think for his age, he's a much stronger singer than I ever thought he was. He's got a definite style. He's made it quite clear to the press that it's not a lasting thing. I wish them luck."Watch for more of BW&BK;'s chat with Ozzy Osbourne in the coming days and expect a massive feature on the BLACK SABBATH legend in BW&BK; #105 - out in June.
