PINK FLOYD Legend SYD BARRETT Wasn't Broke When He Died
May 21, 2007, 17 years ago
Despite rumours and assumptions that the late Syd Barrett died last year with little to show for his highly influential work, the PINK FLOYD founder has left almost £1.7m to his four siblings.
His brother Allan, who authorised the will on behalf of Syd, scored £425,000, while his sisters Ruth Brown and Rosemary Breen and other brother Donald Barrett had £275,000 each.
Breen, who looked after Barrett in his last days will also receive proceeds from the sale of his house, which was worth approximately £310,000.
Barrett released two solo albums in 1970 entitled Barrett and The Madcap Laughs and shortly after retreated from the public eye to deal with his mental problems.
He died last year at age 60 as a result of complications from diabetes.
