Metal pandemonium broke out on Melbourne's streets yesterday as tickets to shows by IRON MAIDEN and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE sold out in minutes.
Black-clad fans queued overnight to secure a spot at Rage Against the Machine's first Australian shows in 11 years, at Festival Hall on January 30.
Promoters later confirmed the music industry's worst-kept secret - that the band would also headline the Big Day Out at on January 28. Tickets go on sale October 12.
And, metal kings Iron Maiden announced a second show at Rod Laver Arena after selling out their first Melbourne show in 15 years within 25 minutes yesterday morning - about as quickly as recent shows there by pop star JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.
The band will fly around Australia with its 60-strong crew and more than 12 tonnes of equipment in a specially commissioned and converted Boeing 757 - piloted by lead singer and qualified airline captain Bruce Dickinson.
Tickets for the second concert at Rod Laver Arena go on sale through Ticketek on February 7.
