Norwegian black metallers GORGOROTH recently announced that "Gaahl, King and Infernus have decided to part ways. Gorgoroth have existed as a three-piece for the past several years but have ceased from this moment on in this incarnation.

Vocalist Gaahl (lyrics) and King (bassist/composer) will continue the scheduled European tour in November under the name Gorgoroth with a replacement for Infernus. King and Gaahl will continue to work together musically, performing their art live and recording in the future. This decision was reached by Gaahl and King as they have been the driving force behind Gorgoroth's music for the past eight years.

Infernus has stated he will take King and Gaahl to court over future use of the name Gorgoroth."

Guitarist Infernus has since issued the following update:

"First of all I would like to thank devoted fans from all over the world. I have during the last 36 hours received close to a thousand emails and other messages, more or less all of them showing an unconditional understanding, support and respect. I will not be able to answer all of you, but you should know it is appreciated. Thank you!

Today, second day with my lawyer Egil Horstad and his team at Vogt & Wiig, there has been made a substantial amount of progress. I will within a couple of days come with a longer statement on the situation and how I plan to deal with it for the future. Both when it comes to legal matters and for the continuation of Gorgoroth.

As I regard it, there is now Gorgoroth, and another fraction with a Gorgoroth name on it. Unfortunately - and as long as that lasts - still somewhat active. To cut through this crap will of course be my main priority in the days which follow.

I am no longer in charge of the former official website of the band, but I will continue updating you through the MySpace accounts of Gorgoroth, Infernus, Novae Obscuritatis and Forces Of Satan.

Best regards and hail Satan!

Infernus, 23.10.2007."

Further updates as they surface.
