Aussie-Bound Ship That Carried Late AC/DC Frontman And His Family Subject Of New Website

According to AC/DC fan-site Crabsodyinblue.com, in 1952 a family from the Scottish town of Kirriemuir left on the S.S. Asturias for a new life in Australia. Mr. Charles Scott and his wife Mrs. Isa Scott along with their sons Derek and Ronald (Bon) set sail for Australia on the S.S. Asturias. At the time no one was to know that one of their sons Ronald would later go on to front one of the biggest rock bands of all time.
The Asturias was built by Harland & Wolff, Belfast and launched in 1925. It was the second ship to have the name of the Asturias.
In 1939 her forward funnel was removed, leaving her with only a single stack.
Although originally used as a Royal Mail ship the Asturias later saw service as an emigrant ship to Australia.
In 1957 as the ship was about to be broken up the ship was used in the film, A Night to Remember, to depict the Titantic in the lifeboat-lowing scenes of the film.
Vikki from Melbourne is currently creating a new here dedicated to the ship SS Asturias. The ship spent a long part of of it's working life carrying emigrating passengers from the United Kingdom to Australia.
