UFO's Pete Way Says Band May Start Work On New Album Later This Year
April 9, 2008, 16 years ago
MetalShrine has issued an interview with UFO bassist Pete Way. The following are a couple of excerpts from the chat:
Q: Are you gonna start working on a new album or what?
A: "No, we're doing festivals and what else are we doing? We're doing some shows... any new album will be at the end of the year. I'm not too sure because I never look (laughs). Things come up. But I think we're looking at doing as many festivals as possible this year."
Q: Are you trying to come up with ideas for songs now or do you start when you're supposed to record the album?
A: "A bit of both actually. But because I've been involved with WAYSTED... we're doing some shows with Waysted and we have an album out, so that's sort of keeping me busy because we've been rehearsing the things and getting ready. It's just six shows actually and after that I'll probably put my concentration on to the songs we're gonna play for the UFO set, because we want to change it around from what it has been, you know. Writing yeah, I think after the next tour."
Q: I'm kind of wondering if you've read Martin Popoff's book Shoot Out The LIghts?
A: "On and off, only bits of it. I don't really read books and I never read about ourselves."
Q: Do you think he did a good job?
A: "I think so, from what I've... I think it was really tame compared to... and I'm very glad." (laughs)
Q: I thought it was an excellent book! It's a great introduction to the band.
A: "Yeah! I've read some of it, but I don't like reading about myself to be truthful.
