As previously reported on September 5th, WARRANT guitarist Erik Turner sent BW&BK; a press release regarding the exit of singer Jani Lane. Guitarist Erik Turner has checked in with Bravewords.com with an interview with Deb Rao regarding a number of topics which include new Warrant singer Robert Mason, future recording plans, and the new found energy that surrounds the band.

Q: It has been an exciting summer for Warrant. I have to commend you and the band for re-arranging your touring plans when the CINDERELLA / WARRANT / LYNCH MOB was cancelled due to Tom Keifer's vocal chord hemmorhage. Tell us about some of the highlights from Rocklahoma. I know the band performed on the day that the stage collapsed. What was running through your mind at that time?

Turner: "It was a crazy week leading up to that show and the wild weather made it even more exciting! The promoters and staff did an amazing job keeping the show together and everybody got to play!"

Q: As a reunited band with Jani Lane, how did it feel to perform together again this summer? Did the reunion fulfill your expectations in what direction that you and the other members of Warrant wanted to take Warrant involving the next level of success?

Turner: "As I write this a lot of you know Jani is no longer in the band. Nothing worked out as we hoped; it just wasn't meant to be. The good news is we have an amazing new singer Robert Mason and we are excited about 2009 and the future."

Q: Recently, Warrant performed at Rock the Bayou, and a few days after the performance it was announced that Warrant had found yet another singer Robert Mason. What was the deciding factor on Jani Lane's departure?

Turner: "Jani does things differently than us when it comes to performing... we had differences in the way we like to operate when we show up for a promoter and crowds to perform live. Best of luck to Lane with his future projects and best of luck to us."

Q: Is everyone still on friendly terms? Did Jani want to go in a different direction musically?

Turner: "We are all cool, thankfully."

Q: How did Warrant find their new singer Robert Mason? Were you friends with him in the past?

Turner: "We have known each other since the early '90s.

Q: Warrant recently performed your first concert with Robert in Tucson, Arizona at the Anselmo Valencia Amphitheater. How did the show go?

Turner:: "Three thousand happy music lovers, five happy band members and a smiley promoter."

Q: Do you feel the band is re-born again with Robert and the new found energy that transpired from Warrant's performance?

Turner: "We have a new positive energy and hopefully this line up will last!"

Q: Tell us about your upcoming shows that you have lined up for the fall? Any plans to put together a tour package this fall? I know the fans are anxious to see the band on the road again.

Turner: "Just a few dates to finish up the year."

Q: What about recording plans. Any plans to go into the studio anytime soon?

Turner: "New song ideas are flowing, hopefully new music next summer."

Q: How did it feel to perform all the Warrant classic hits to a whole new generation of fans?

Turner: "It's great. Go Guitar Hero II!"

Q: It has been over 20 years since Warrant debut on the metal scene. How has Warrant evolved as a band since the early days on Sunset Strip? Do you feel this is Warrant's strongest line-up to date?

Turner: "We are grateful for what we have and are working hard to keep growing as people and musicians in a kick ass direction."

Q: "Best of Luck with the new singer Robert Mason. Is there anything else that you want to say to your fans?

Turner: "Thanks to those Diehard fans that have stuck with us through all the drama, unfortunately that's the way it goes in a Rock n Roll band most of the time. Control the Chaos or the Chaos will control you!"
