Australia's PyroMusic.net has issued an interview with CRADLE OF FILTH guitarist Paul Allender. The following is an excerpt:

Q: I've read about the concept behind the new album and it seems like a very appropriate theme for a Cradle Of Filth album. Who came up with this idea?

A: "It was Dan, he came up with it. I mean, I wrote the music with my friend and we did the whole album and just gave it to Dan and said, 'right, write the lyrics and do what you want with it' (laughs). So he came up with the whole concept of Gilles de Rais and basically put the lyrics to the music."

Q: Was it difficult to make a 72-minute album based work around that one concept?

A: "Well I didn't even know what it was going to be about to be honest, I just wrote the songs, as far as I was concerned one song is its own entity you know, it's not connected to anything. I just wrote a whole collection of songs that I put together at that particular point on time and it was just weird, it was just lucky that when they were all put together and Dan done the lyrics for it, they all just seemed to flow perfectly, which was quite strange. It's one of those happy moment things!" (laughs)
