NOT many dads would like to see their daughter dressed as a whip-dancer and having their throat cut. But US hard rocker Alice Cooper is all for it.

"She's a good actress," Cooper said of his 24-year-old daughter, Calico, who has travelled with him for his last three tours.

"She plays at least four or five characters in my show."

Those characters include a whip-dancer turned vampire and hotel heiress Paris Hilton having her throat chewed out by her pet chihuahua.

"With Britney being pregnant, we had to leave her alone," Cooper laughed in Sydney today.Advertisement:

"And then here comes Paris ... who doesn't want to see that chihuahua attack her? It is all done in fun of course."

The 57-year-old Cooper arrived in Sydney at the weekend, ahead of his national tour which kicks off in Newcastle tomorrow.

He will then perform dates in Sydney, Penrith, Brisbane, Melbourne, Launceston, Adelaide and Perth.

"It is all the classic stuff - the straitjacket, the guillotine, a disappearing coffin trick," he said.

"From 28 songs, I'd say 26 of them are radio hits. We are doing every hit, Department of Youth, Billion Dollar Babies, Schools Out, Poison."

This trip marks Cooper's seventh visit to Australia.

"This audience is the high energy rock n' roll audience and it is hard to come by," he said. "I don't want a polite audience."

Cooper was born Vincent Damon Furnier and became known as Alice at the age of 17.

He has recorded more than 30 albums over the past four decades, selling more than 50 million copies worldwide.

The performer recently finished recording his latest album, Dirty Diamonds.

It was recorded in 14 days and will be released in Australia later this year.

"We would write the song, go in the other room, record the song and put the vocals on the song. Then we'd put it to bed. That way you don't cook all the good stuff out of it."

Cooper performed more than 90 live concerts last year and has no intention of slowing down any time soon.

"I have never been in better shape in my life so I don't see any end to it right now," he said. "But I am realistic. MICK JAGGER is six years older than me, so when Jagger ends, I have got six more years because I'm not going to let him outlive me."
