ALICE IN CHAINS' JERRY CANTRELL On "The One You Know" Single - "I Was Thinking Of DAVID BOWIE When I Was Writing It"; Video

Alice In Chains recently released their new single and video for "The One You Know". The song is the first single from the band's much-anticipated follow-up to 2013’s The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.
Backstage at last weekend's Caroina Rebellion, Alice In Chains founder Jerry Cantrell explained to SiriusXM host Grant Random how the new single was inspired by David Bowie (watch the video below).
"It's really aggressive," says Cantrell. "It's got a super-aggro riff. I was thinking kind of, of Bowie when I was writing it, a little bit, so it's got kind of a metal 'Fame' shuffle to it, kind of almost. It's a good aggro riff and it's got the classic Alice In Chains chorus, with a weird kind of trippy middle part.
"It's a good record. I wouldn't say that the rest of the record sounds like that, but that's a good indicator of what the rest of the record kind of feels like. There's a lot of edgy stuff there, a lot of rocking stuff, a lot of weird stuff, and some pretty stuff in there too."

Due out later this year, the new album was recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with Nick Raskulinecz, who produced both The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here and its predecessor, 2009’s Black Gives Way To Blue.
