This past Tuesday, July 14th, ALICE IN CHAINS previewed its first studio album in 14 years at a listening party in Hollywood, CA. Singer/guitarist Jerry Cantrell, new singer/guitarist William DuVall, bass player Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney performed a three-song acoustic set at the Montalban Theatre, including the title track from the new album, Black Gives Way To Blue, due in stores on September 29th.

The band were joined by famed keyboardist Derek Sherinian (ALICE COOPER, DREAM THEATER, KISS, BILLY IDOL) who told BraveWords.com that "it was great to play with these guys. Jerry Cantrell is an awesome songwriter. It was the first time working with Mike Inez after knowing him for 20 years, so that was cool. I hope that they invite me to play with them again in the future."

As for the new music Sherinian remarked: "I was very impressed with the sound of their new record. Jerry is a great songwriter and William's voice sounds very strong. I think that they will do very well with this release."

The first single, 'A Looking In View', is now available for purchase via Amazon below:

About 'A Looking In View', Alice In Chains vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell says, “The song basically speaks to any number of things that keep you balled up inside. A cell of our own making with an unlocked door that we choose to remain in. Focusing our attention inward instead of reaching out to a much larger world. I think this is common to us all. It’s funny how hard we fight to hang on to a bone we can’t pull through a hole in the fence, or how difficult it is to put down the bag of bricks and move on.”
