AMANDA SOMERVILLE Checks In From AVANTASIA Tour - "Performing A 3+ Hour Show With A Sprained Ankle Isn't Easy, But After Delivering A Baby Pain Is All Relative..."

Vocalist Amanda Somerville (Trillium, HDK) has checked in with an update from the European leg of Avantasia's Ghostlights World Tour. An excerpt from her latest blog entry is available below.

"Here I am again, in full swing on the new Ghostlights tour with Avantasia. Before the tour started, we had an exciting experience participating in the Eurovision preliminaries for Germany, coming in 3rd place. And now, so far EVERY single show of the tour has been sold out and our audiences have been more incredible than ever. It’s great to be back with the boys, meeting wonderful people, traveling around and doing some sight-seeing, eating the local fare (French onion soup in Paris – yum!). What a crazy turn of events from being 'just a mom' (haha) to getting back in the saddle and back on the road. More than ever, I have 2 completely different worlds I’m living in. I’m used to bouncing in and out of this life and that, having lived bi-continentally for the past 17 years, but this is sooooooo different. Like I’ve always said, one thing my life is NOT is boring!"

"So, things are going fantastically on the Avantasia tour, except that I stumbled coming down the stairs at the side of the stage during the show in Langen a few days ago and twisted my ankle rather badly. Now, after delivering a baby, pain is all relative, but it was getting worse and worse throughout the show, even though I was doing my best to make like nothing was wrong. Since I’d felt a pretty big snap when it happened, I informed our tour manager (the fabulous A.C.) that I’d better go to the hospital after the show to get it checked out. The Doc there said the good news was that the x-rays showed nothing was broken, but the bad news was that he suspected that I’d torn some ligaments in there and gave me a brace to wear and some pain meds to take. But, the show must go on and, though performing a 3+ hour show with a sprained ankle isn’t easy, there’s no way I’m going to sacrifice wearing at least my stage boots! Maybe not the most prudent thing to do, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do."

Langen was great yesterday, sold out! Thank you! Prague is sold out as well tonight: 4,000 Czech Avantasians... you are absolutely amazing!"
