On October 14th, DaCapo Press will publish the long–awaited and vastly entertaining autobiography of Anthrax guitarist and spoken wordsmith Scott Ian, entitled I'm The Man. The official book release party will be held October 10th at Largo in Los Angeles, CA and tickets are on sale now at this location. Doors open at 7:00pm, the show starts at 8:00pm, admission is $30.

 

In this fast–paced, humorous, and revealing memoir from guitarist Scott Ian - the leader of a band that proved brutality and fun don’t have to be mutually exclusive - Ian tells his life story, starting with his upbringing as a nerdy Jewish boy in Queens, who had his first musical epiphany when he saw The Who on television. Not long after that, he saw KISS at Madison Square Garden and realized what he wanted to do with his life. I’m the Man covers Ian’s dysfunctional home life and his escape through the turbulent world of heavy metal. It also chronicles the complete history of Anthrax, from the band’s formation to their triumphant performance at Ian’s beloved Yankee Stadium on the Big Four Tour with Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth.

 

Scott Ian had a lot to say on the European and United States legs of his groundbreaking Speaking “Swearing Words” Tour. After decades-worth of international touring with Anthrax, bumping elbows with illustrious (and sometimes ridiculous) characters all over the media spectrum, and undergoing general “you won’t believe this” experiences - he certainly had some hilarious and surprisingly personal stories to share.
