In less than a week, Dire Omen will be embarking on their North American tour, which includes their first tour of the United States.
News recently broke that Chile's Unaussprechlichen Kulten, originally supposed to appear alongside Dire Omen, had to drop off due to visa issues. Despite this, Dire Omen will continue the tour, which will include appearances with some of the best in underground black/death metal: Seattle's Drawn And Quartered will join them at the Highline, labelmates House Of Atreus will appear in Chicago, Thantifaxath will bring their opaque darkness to the band's appearances in Trois Riviere, Montreal, and Toronto, and - of course - the first show of the tour is at Vancouver's Covenant festival, which features an immense lineup that includes Bell Witch, Sheol, Blood Incantation, and Norway's Taake.
The band has been alluding, in several interviews, to an upcoming EP that finished recording several months ago. In advance of the band's tour, Dire Omen is releasing a rough mix of one of the EPs songs, entitled "Malkuth”. A relentless combination of frenetic blasting punctuated by pummelling, meditative rhythms and murky sustains, the song is a marked progression of Dire Omen's sound to simultaneously more furious technicality as well as primitive simplicity.
Dire Omen's tour will begin in Vancouver's Covenant festival on June 16th, and come to a close July 9th when they play Edmonton with Begrime Exemious and the recently reunited Rites Of Thy Degringolade, who will also be joining them the day before in Calgary.
