Deep Purple’s official YouTube channel has posted a hilarious interview with David Coverdale from Whitesnake when he visited Australia in 1994. He is being interviewed by veteran ABC personality, Andrew Denton. Coverdale reminisces about his early days with Deep Purple, Whitesnake’s massive ‘80s success, cucumbers, bad hair days and more!
“I didn’t think I'd be doing this past 30,” Coverdale says. “I think it's the songs, nothing to do with fashion, or whatever. As long as I'm writing tunes that people enjoy. But the ‘80s was a roller coaster ride, it was hard to get off. Business was bizarre, because it was incredibly successful. ‘We must be doing something right.’ The MTV thing caught on at the same time, we had massive audiences in the States, which was the last place for me to conquer.”
