DEF LEPPARD – PHIL COLLEN Limited Edition Shoes Sell Out

Vancouver’s SixHundredFour shoe company has confirmed that the entire run of custom hand-painted sneakers, by Def Leppard lead-guitarist, Phil Collen, sold-out immediately after they were announced yesterday.

"I was blown away at the unexpected and overwhelming response since we didn't advertise before releasing the sneakers. This is pretty exciting considering we're just getting started." - Phil Collen

The Electric Splatter sneakers were inspired by Collen’s 30 hand painted guitars created in 2010 for Jackson Guitars 30th anniversary. The limited-edition instruments have now more than doubled in value, with one recently appearing on the hit show, Pawn Stars.

While on tour with Def Leppard in Canada earlier this year, Collen ventured into the SixHundredFour sneaker store/art gallery in Vancouver. As an avid sneaker fan, Collen never passes up an opportunity to check out unique ‘sneaks' and was intrigued by the original artisanal kicks lining the walls with their canvas backdrop counterparts created by local artists.  After a conversation with SixHundredFour founder, James Lepp, a eureka moment occurred. Literally the next morning, with the help of renowned sneaker artist Zac Vine (@zeevycustoms), Collen splatter painted the first two pairs using the signature paint style that appears on his limited edition Jackson 30th Anniversary guitar series. Collen returned to Vancouver a month later to complete the limited edition pairs of custom sneakers. Each pair of sneakers is numbered and signed by Collen with his name written in classic Japanese script.

SixHundredFour founder James Lepp said, “I had no idea what to expect, but selling out in under 24 hours, I definitely didn't expect that! I'm so pumped for the whole team that made this project happen.”
