Former GATES OF ISHTAR, DUSKFALL Drummer Oskar Karlsson Passes

Swedish drummer Oskar (or Oscar) Karlsson has passed away according to an update from melodic death band Gates Of Ishtar: “It is with much sadness and regret that we have learned that our drummer and friend Oscar Karlsson has passed away at the age of 39. Words cannot express how we feel. Oscar was a fantastic human being and a great friend and he will be dearly missed.”
From the Gates Of Ishtar, Luleå, Sweden-based Duskfall was born in 2001 and added the following statement: “With heavy hearts we have to let you all know that our dear friend and long time ex-drummer of the Duskfall Oscar has passed away. Tomorrow’s show is going to be dedicated to him. Our biggest condolences to the family. Keep the heavy beat going on the other side for us Oscar…until we jam again! With huge respects.”
Karlsson started his career in 1994 with Decortication and spent five years with Defleshed before they recorded their debut full length. He played on A Bloodred Path (1996) and At Dusk and Forever (1998) from Gates Of Ishtar. Karlsson also spent time in Helltrain, Raised Fist, Sarcasm, Scheitan and The Everdawn. During his time in Duskfall he played on: Frailty (2002), Source (2003), Lifetime Supply of Guilt (2005), The Dying Wonders of the World (2007).
