Sad news, as just after Deep Purple was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, former bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes announced that he was flying home to be with his mother after the death of his father William who was 90.
He tweeted that he was returning home with his wife Gabi to be with his mother Sheila: “My Father William Passed away. Gab & I will fly to the UK to be with my Mom, I am there only child- prayers please.”
Forbes caught up with bassist Glenn Hughes before his induction with Deep Purple at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremonies on April 8th.
Discussing upcoming plans, Hughes stated, “Just 4 months ago I had left knee surgery, knee replacement. On the right knee it was three months ago, so I’m now at 80% recovery. I’m strengthening the quads, I’m doing twice the stuff, I’m flexible. My tour starts soon. I’m doing a few shows in June, then I’m making a record, then I start my world tour in August.
“I’m getting ready to do the biggest tour I’ve done in years, so I’m getting in shape for that. Not just physically, but mentally, and all the other stuff one has to do.”
On April 8th, rock legends Deep Purple were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame by Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, who has never made a secret of his love for the band and has been pushing for Deep Purple's induction for years. Check out his speech below.
Ulrich recently spoke with Radio.com about his love for the band and what, in his opinion, makes them a driving force in music.
