Garden State progressive metal act GYRE have posted a teaser video for their forthcoming Second Circle EP, out digitally on July 23rd via Monolithic Records. "Gyre is proud to announce the release of its second EP through Monolithic Records," said the band in a statement. "We understand that no band is an island. In this understanding Gyre is excited to team up with Tom Quigley, Jesse Zuretti and Monolithic to further our musical endeavor. Listeners can expect progressive metal that does not lose sight of the power of structure and song, and an understanding that it is the connection between our emotions that really get messages across to audiences. As Nietzsche said, 'In music the passions enjoy themselves.' Come enjoy our passion with us." Added Monolithic founder Tom Quigley, "Gyre play a unique style of proggy groove metal with great aplomb, blending the technical aggression of a younger, scrappier GOJIRA with the mature melodic flourishes of LEPROUS or EXTOL. They are a natural fit for the small, tight-knit family we have at Monolithic Records."
Second Circle tracklisting: ‘All Revealing Eye’ ‘Ever Devourer’ ‘Circle To Feed’ ‘I Receiving All’ Recorded with Kevin Antressian at Backroom Studios (DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, THE NUMBER 12 LOOKS LIKE YOU, ADRENALINE MOB, FOXY SHAZAM), Gyre will unveil a new song from Second Circle later this week. Thematically, Second Circle is inspired by T.S. Eliot's The Wasteland - feelings of all-destructiveness, delusion, disdain and the understanding that we must consume to produce. The band will continue to play live throughout the Northeast in support of the new EP. Stay tuned for more information on Gyre and Second Circle.
