HALESTORM Vocalist LZZY HALE Pays Tribute to TOM KEIFER On Into The Wild Life Album Cover

WMMR’s Jaxon recently spoke with Halestorm vocalist/guitarist Lzzy Hale, who revealed how she paid tribute to Cinderella frontman and friend Tom Keifer via the cover of Halestorm's new album, Into The Wild Life.

Hale: "My birthday last October, we got together, and he’s like, 'I found something, and I want you to have it, and it’s not really big or great, but I know you’ll know what it is.' And he hands me this little pouch, and it’s a piece of costume jewelry. It’s a pin that he wore on the cover of Night Songs. He’s like, 'I want you to have this. I don’t even know why I saved it, but you’re going to appreciate this more than anyone else…'

So, I decided to surprise him and wear it on our cover for Into The Wild Life. It was so funny because we were working with a stylist, and I’m like, 'I brought this pin…I don’t care who you are or what’s in style right now, but you have to make sure that I’m wearing this!' So, I did, and the album came out and he’s like, 'Lzzy…is this the pin I gave you?' And I’m like, 'Yeah! Tradition man! We gotta roll that through!' So, it’s really nice."

Halestorm vocalist Lzzy Hale is, of course, known for her killer voice and good looks, but in keeping with her next generation Joan Jett appeal, she also plays guitar. In fact, she looks rather strange on stage without her signature Explorer in hand. Asked by BraveWords scribe Carl Begai if she’s at all disappointed by most people treating her axe-playing as as afterthought – although Premier Guitar recently did their best to remedy that with a rig rundown – Lzzy doesn’t worry about it.

“I got into playing guitar because I wanted to be a bad-ass,” she admits. “That really was the only reason. I followed Tom Keifer from Cinderella and decided I had to get off the piano (laughs). As I learned more about the instrument it became more of a personal journey for me. I don’t really mind being in the shadows guitar-wise because I’m becoming a better player year after year. As that happens people will start noticing me as a guitar player. I don’t pay a lot of attention to people paying a whole lot of attention to me (laughs).”
