HELIX mainman Brian Vollmer has issued the following update:

"The title of the new Helix CD is Vagabond Bones and we’re hoping for a release to coincide with the reunion tour in October. The race is on now to meet the deadline to get it done. It’s a long process from the finishing of the recording to actually having the CD in our hands, so perhaps we’ll take the first track to radio while it’s actually being pressed. Nowadays releasing a song to radio is done through DMDS, the internet service that drops the digital download in the program directors lap for a certain fee paid by you. In the case of last year’s A Heavy Mental Christmas, we released Silent Night. I follow up personally with a phone call about a week later. I’ve been doing this for several years now I have a relationship with quite a few stations across Canada. The CD is once again going to be distributed by Fontana/Universal in Canada, and in North America I’ll distribute it myself. In Europe and Asia we’ll be looking for an advance for distribution, but if that doesn’t happen I’ll sell it myself through the website or through eBay. Helix fans, we know you’re out there."

Vollmer also reveals the following line-up change: "The longest serving member in the band outside of the classic '80’s line-up has been Jim Lawson, from Sudbury, Ontario. Jim joined the band around 2003 and has been a loyal soldier for the Helix cause during that time and a favorite among Helix fans for his onstage charisma. Unfortunately the long distance between where he lives and where the band operates became a factor in Jim staying with us. On behalf of myself and the rest of the guys in Helix we’d like to wish Jim the best of luck with all his new endeavors and thank him for his great contribution to the band over the years. He will be missed."

As previously reported, Helix' '80s line-up have reunited: Brent 'The Doctor' Doerner on lead guitar, Greg 'Fritz' Hinz on drums, Daryl Gray on bass, and Vollmer will be taking this show on the road in October throughout western Canada. Some of these dates will be with the reformed KICKAXE. More news will be revealed soon.
