On Thursday, May 22nd Red Hot Chili Peppers / Chickenfoot drummer Chad Smith and actor Will Ferrell held a drum-off on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Their interview with Fallon prior to the on-stage battle has been posted online and can be viewed below:
Following is OkayPlayer.com's take on the event:
"In a hilarious bout, Smith and Ferrell traded off a few solos - though we suspect Ferrell had the assistance of a certain third drummer in the room– to strut their stuff on the sticks until one was deemed the superior doppelgänger. After fumbling through his final take, Ferrell went straight SNL ca. 2000, busting out the cowbell as RHCP actually joined him in performing his iconic bit, churning out a Roots-assisted cut of Blue Oyster Cult‘s “Don’t Fear The Reaper” (where’s Christopher Walken when ya need him?) Catch a bit of that fever and get yourself some more cowbell down below."
