Singer Alexis Woodbury from Quebec-based power metallers INSTANZIA has issued the following update:

"Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I didn’t post anything really relevant about the making of our second album which is titled Spinning Maze so I thought I’d do it at the moment.

First I can say that things are progressing slowly but surely! Since the beginning of May we got drums recorded, rhythm guitars, acoustic guitars and bass. I had to spend quite a while editing those tracks in between but don’t get me wrong; I’m not editing those tracks to reach an overly modern and edited sound. I just do that to ensure that everything fits correctly in the context of the songs and that nothing unwanted or crappy makes its way on the final print :D. I also put the final touch on all the synths and orchestrations with Marc-Éric Martel who helped a lot and programmed the virtual analog synth sounds and that took a while since those are taking more place in the songs now than they did on Ghosts and also because Ghosts was done over a period much longer than what we expect to spend making this one.

At the moment I’m doing basic track comping, sorting out stuff and placing the piano tracks Mathieu Fiset recorded in the songs in order to have every instrument in place when I’ll get to the vocals. I plan on spending a few weeks practicing vocals, rewriting some lines and everything before moving on to recording all of the vocals and finally lead guitars and solos! That’ll also serve as a break from the non-stop Pro Tools work I’ve been doing, heheh. It’s still quite a long way since all those elements’ importance is paramount!

I’ve also been figuring out who will participate in the big yummy choirs we intend to have on this album and I can say it’ll give pretty nice results!! We’ve also ensured Felipe Machado as our cover artist for the album. You guys all know the works he’s done for the likes of Rhapsody of Fire, Luca Turilli, Blind Guardian and way, way more! I think we can expect a totally kickass piece of art as our cover for this one!

So that’s about it for now! I can tell ou guys that this album won’t disappoint you! Feel free to ask any question regarding the album to the band except if you plan on asking us about a release date! I aim to have the album finished by April but nothing is guaranteed! We’ll keep you up to date at every step!

Thanks a lot for your interest, stay up to date and spread the word!!! Rock on!"
