JON SCHAFFER - "If ICED EARTH Was To Be Alienated Because Of My Personal View On Things, I Don't Think Those Are The Kind Of Fans I Want"

Zombitrol Productions recently caught up with Jon Schaffer, who talked about why the band seems impervious to lineup changes, how the band's sound evolves from album to album, and why he's is not keen on his band being associated with power metal.

Zombitrol: "Schaffer has also gained a reputation for right-wing beliefs after appearing on divisive conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ InfoWars program, wearing a confederate flag bandana on stage, as well as the intense rhetoric found in the lyrics of his side project, Sons Of Liberty. I feel that it is without question that due to the timeless nature of the classic heavy metal style that Iced Earth plays, it can be said that Schaffer has fans from all walks of life. Based on that presumption, I wanted to know if he has any concern about alienating parts of his fan base who don’t share his views."

On April 12th, 1989, Iced Earth entered the worldwide metal scene by storm with the release of their first and only demo, Enter The Realm. Now, on April 12th, 2019, exactly 30 years after its original release, Iced Earth reissues this very fine example of real and uncompromising US metal on CD, digitally and - most importantly - on vinyl for the very first time.

Mastered from original sound sources, Enter The Realm is an essential release for every real metal fan. A historical document that highlights the importance of Iced Earth for the worldwide metal scene.
