KAINE Announce New Guitarist; Band Leaves US Label Static Tension
October 7, 2014, 10 years ago
Britain's Kaine have announced that Saxon Davids will be joining the band on guitar permanently. Saxon recently filled in for Anthony Murch on the band's tour across Britain and Ireland with Mordred.
The band will now move forward as a 5-piece with Rage Sadler on rhythm guitars and vocals, Dan Mailer on bass and vocals, Anthony Murch on lead guitar, Saxon Davids on rhythm and lead guitars and Chris MacKinnon on drums.
Band founder Rage Sadler states: “We are very happy to welcome Saxon to the Kaine family. Saxon did a great job with us on tour; he showed absolute professionalism in learning and performing the songs live in such a short space of time. Personality wise he was a perfect fit for the band and after the reviews we had from our London show we thought why not?”
Saxon commented: “I’m very happy to become a full time member of Kaine and I am looking forward to what the future holds for the band as a 5 piece metal machine! Rage approached me pretty much straight after the Islington O2 Academy gig and discussed with me the possibility of this happening. That tour was one of the best experiences of my life from a personal and musical perspective, so to be asked to join the guys permanently is a great pleasure.”
Kaine has also departed its American record label Static Tension less than a month after signing with them. This was due to the label being reluctant to print physical releases for the band as it didn’t believe it had the ability to sell copies. The band believes that remaining with the label is pointless as a result. This is the second record label the band have left this year.
Rage stated: “Unfortunately Static Tension were unable to commit to creating physical materials. If a label doesn’t have the confidence in its own ability to market and sell a band just weeks after signing it, then there is really no point in continuing.”
Kaine will not be looking for another label in the near future and will continue along the DIY route unless an offer of significance comes the band's way.
Kaine recently announced that they have been chosen to open for Savage Messiah on November 21st at the Portland Arms Cambridge. The band was given the support slot after being chosen by fans in a poll that was run by the promoter, Millerton Events Cambridge. Kaine won over half the votes despite competing against 11 other bands for the slot.
Band founder Rage Sadler states: “Many of our fans have requested we play with Savage Messiah for a long time, seeing that we are two revival bands with styles that complement each other well. We are extremely lucky to have been given this rare opportunity to actually do this gig by our fans. Savage Messiah are on a big label and its not very easy to work with one another, so we are very excited about being able to finally do this. We will be playing a number of our older thrash songs at the show which makes this gig even more special for the band. It will also be fun to catch up with Mira (Savage Messiah, bass) who we befriended while he was playing in Monument. This will definitely be a gig not to miss.”
