BW&BK; scribe Carl Begai recently spoke with KIX frontman Steve Whiteman about the band's comeback and their new CD/DVD, Live In Baltimore. During the conversation Whiteman commented on his role as vocal coach for HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale:

"Yeah, I had my FUNNY MONEY band on the weekends and I continued to teach vocals. It was probably seven or eight years ago now, and Lzzy was just a kid who had all the talent in the world but didn't quite know how to get her voice out. She had good pitch, she was a songwriter, but she didn't know how to project her voice. I'm thrilled with what she's doing. She's amazing and the band is doing great."

In a separate interview with Begai several months ago, Hale commented on Whiteman's influence on her career:

"He was my vocal coach for two years, when I was 17-18 years old,” Lzzy reveals, “and he’s still a great mentor of mine. I owe everything that I’m able to pull off every night to that man. He’s amazing. I recommend him to anyone. He introduced me to what I was born with, and taught me all that I could do with that gift.”

Upon hearing this, Whiteman responded: "That's kind of overboard because she already had all that talent. I just pointed her in the right direction."
