LINDEMANN Featuring RAMMSTEIN And HYPOCRISY Frontmen Post First Taste Of New Music

It was announced in January that Rammstein frontman Til Lindemann has hooked up with Hypocrisy / Pain mastermind Peter Tägtgren for a new new side-project dubbed Lindemann. An official Facebook page has been launched here. The first taste of music from the dynamic duo can be heard below.

Stay tuned for updates.

Rammstein guitarist Richard Kruspe recently spoke with Ultimate-Guitar.com about his new Emigrate album, Silent So Long. An excerpt from the interview is available below:

UG; I would imagine that the studio experience with Rammstein would have to be somewhat enjoyable.

Kruspe; "No. No way. It's not. Not for me anymore. It works but I went through a lot of suffering. I love Rammstein and the way that we work is the only way that it works and I understand that. But especially being in Emigrate and realizing what kind of person I am, I like to be the one who is in control and has the last say on things. It makes me a better team player at the end of the day. Rammstein is so democratic and often decisions are being made because of the egos, not because of the music and I don't have that in Emigrate. It makes the studio experience so much more pleasurable in Emigrate than in Rammstein. But there is a responsibility that we have, being in a band like Rammstein. So if you're asking if I enjoy recording with Rammstein, no I don't."

UG: That must make recording with Emigrate all that much more freeing. That's why people have side projects, I suppose.

Kruspe: "Yes. It brings me the balance to still me in Rammstein. Without Emigrate I couldn't even think of staying there, now it's doable for me. Emigrate balances me out which is something I was always looking for."

Silent So Long - produced by Emigrate themselves and mixed in Los Angeles by Ben Grosse (Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Disturbed, etc.) - features 11 brand new recordings.

As with the debut, Kruspe adds to his guitar playing / song-writing duties by stepping up to the mic, only this time he's joined by a number of guest singers; there's Lemmy from Motörhead, Korn's Jonathan Davis, Marilyn Manson, Canadian born Berlin-dweller Peaches, plus Frank Dellé from chart-topping German collective Seeed.

"I didn't write the songs with specific guests in mind," explains Kruspe, "I just thought who would do the best job on this or that track, and the final performances were everything I was hoping for. You know, I've had about five moments in my music career when I've been left smiling like a child - one was when Rammstein sold out New York's Madison Square Garden in 20 minutes (2010), but the last one was hearing Lemmy on tape. It just sounds f**king great! I wrote him a really long message and he came back "alright!" Fantastic!"

For Kruspe, still firmly ensconced within the Rammstein ranks, Emigrate has never been a side or a solo project. Preferring to tap into the energy of a team, and looking to revive the collaborative spirit of the East German punk scene he grew from, the guitarist has always put value on those around him, and this time - in addition to the existing personnel of guitarist / producer Olson Involtini and bassist / co-conspirator Arnaud Giroux - he's joined by drummers Mikko Sirén (Apocalyptica) and Joe Letz (Combichrist).
