In an interview with BW&BK; about the new LEAVES' EYES EP, Legend Land, vocalist Liv Kristine revealed the initial rumours about her being the new vocalist for NIGHTWISH following the ousting of singer Tarja Turunen were in fact a lot more serious in Nightwish's native Finland.

"I was actually was the new singer of Nightwish as far as the Finnish yellow press was concerned," Liv begins. "Leaves' Eyes had just returned from the U.S./Canada tour and my mother called me and told me that one of her Finnish friends, being in Helsinki at that point in time, had bought a newspaper with my face on the front page and a headline saying 'Liv Kristine Is The New Singer Of Nightwish!'. Five minutes later my husband (Alex Krull/Atrocity) called me, totally frustrated and upset, but he still found it funny because the Finnish press kept calling us begging us to make a statement. We didn't know what to say. I hadn't spoken to any of the Nightwish guys, and their split with Tarja happened while I was in the U.S. I really didn't know what was going on."
"A couple hours later, when we were thinking about what we were going to tell the Finnish press, Tarja's husband called and he told me that if I wanted to do it, he and Tarja wanted to wish me the best of luck. At that point I decided I really had to make a statement, and I told them that it was just a rumour, that there was no truth to it at all."
"I guess the Finnish press had been searching for information and they must have found something. The thing was, a year before all this happened I had done an interview with (Nightwish keyboardist/founder) Tuomas (Holopainen) where he told me that he would love to work with me, and I told the journalist who asked me the same question that I could never say no to Tuomas. He was telling them about Theatre Of Tragedy being one of his biggest inspirations, and I guess that's where the Finnish press got their 'story'. They put one and one together and got three."
"I actually met up with Tarja a couple days ago," Liv continues. "She came over from Finland and we had a great talk; we laughed so much. It was a personal thing. She was in Germany and she had some time so we got together and talked things over because we're always geting questions about one another. It was really nice because she's been a good friend of mine for such a long time, but because she's living in Argentina and I've been here we hardly ever see each other. It was time, and we had a lot of fun."
