As reported yesterday, 44 years into their career, Canada's beloved prog-rock trio RUSH have finally been inducted into the 2012 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Canadian-born MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has been influenced by Rush all his life and sent BraveWords the following statement:

"Rush and Heart both get inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame??!!!! Finally, there is some justice for these two amazing bands, who quite frankly, should have been inducted on their first year of eligibility. Anybody who knows of me certainly knows that Rush is the reason why I became a musician at the age of 12, after my brother brought home All The World's A Stage back in 1978. That record changed my thought process from being a huge rock fan to wanting to be in a rock band. It wasn't the generic drummer story of just Neil (Peart), either. The entire band just floored me with their musicianship, originality and their endless quest to doing it 'their way.' To this day, some 33 years later, Rush remains my all time favourite band.

Heart was and is also a huge influence of me; in my opinion, there is not one woman on the face of the earth who has, can or ever will sing as well as Ann Wilson! Don't even get me started on how amazing Michael Derosier and Roger Fisher are. I could go on for hours on that. Heart is another band that really carved their own musical path.

Does it sound like I am jacked up about this??!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Celebration!!"

Rush issued the following official statement: "We are honored to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The three of us are especially appreciative of our loyal fans whose support and dedication has gone a long way to making this possible. P.S. And special thanks to our Moms for voting 6,000 times!"

Scheduled for Thursday, April 18th, 2013, the 28th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. This marks the first time since 1993 that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on the West Coast. The ceremony will again be open to the public, as it was in 2009 and 2012 in Cleveland.

The induction ceremony will broadcast on HBO on Saturday, May 18th at 9 PM, ET/PT. Said Michael Lombardo, President of HBO Programming, "We are excited to team up once again with the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for what is sure to be an incredible evening of one-of-a-kind performances.”
