A brand new Metallica T-shirt design from their friend SQUINDO is now available in the Met Store at Metallica.com. Check out purchase details here.
According to Germany’s Bild, Metallica’s label Universal has set the release date for the band’s tenth studio album. The follow-up to the band’s 2008 release Death Magnetic is expected to arrive on October 14th.
In an interview with Citizens Of Humanity Lars Ulrich was asked about the upcoming release.
“It’s probably a little less frenetic than the last record”, he said. “The last one Rick Rubin really encouraged us to for the first time be inspired by our past. It was the first time we sort of looked in the rearview mirror. This time around it’s a little bit of a different thing. We’re not working with Rick, we’re working with the engineer from the last record, who’s producing, Greg Fidelman. So there’s some of the same production elements at play, but we’re expanding a little bit on the sonics. It’s probably a bit more of a diverse record than the last one. It’s exciting, but I don’t have quite the perspective yet.”
Metclub's magazine So What! recently caught up with bassist Robert Trujillo, who divulged some details from the recording session for the band's new album.
Trujillo: "I can say James (Hetfield) and I had a blast doing back-up vocals last week, it was probably the most fun I've had during this album cycle; I wouldn't even call that work. It was just super fun blasting out those choruses. He had a big smile on his face and so did I, so that's something that I'll always remember, because I don't think I've ever done it on that level. I mean, we've done a couple things here and there, but that was a first for me, to be in the vocal booth with him. It was pretty cool. So I feel great. The bass sounds are crushing. I would say they're the best bass sounds that I've had with this band, for sure, and already for me that's a plus. I'm very proud of what Greg (Fidelman, producer) has done with the sound of my instruments, and I'm also proud of the way I played. We've had fun."
Stay tuned for updates.
Metallica recently released a ton of hilarious behind-the-scenes footage detailing their new collaboration with Italian luxury menswear house Brioni and their new creative director Justin O’Shea.
Says the band: “We are beyond thrilled to have been invited to be the face of Italian luxury menswear powerhouse Brioni as they kick off their first creative campaign under the direction of newly appointed creative director, über cool style star Justin O’Shea. The black and white Queen ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ inspired photos were shot last month in San Francisco by photographer Zackery Michael. We’re sporting Bespoke Brioni suits and tuxedos as well as sunglasses from their new eyewear collection.”
According to BOF, the campaign will be distributed on social media channels and is set appear on billboards and kiosks in Paris and in The New York Times, reflecting a more focused initial print advertising buy. Wider print distribution and billboards in New York, Los Angeles and Moscow will follow in the autumn.
