MOTÖRHEAD’s Bomber Set, GENE SIMMONS, ABBATH, GWAR Heading To Birmingham For HeavyCon Rock / Metal Convention

KISS legend Gene Simmons is heading for Birmingham as the star attraction of HeavyCon – an inaugural event planned to be “the world’s largest rock and metal convention”, reports Birmingham Mail.

Gene is famous worldwide for his giant tongue and for his on-stage demonic figure who spits fire and vomits stage blood. And he's coming to the city which gave the world the genre pioneering sound of Black Sabbath.

Other guests expected to attend include War Of The Worlds’ Jeff Wayne, guitarist and producer Steven Wilson, US rockers GWAR, The Answer, and black metal star Abbath (Norwegian ex-Immortal rocker Abbath Doom Occulta).

Memorabilia attractions will include a Motörhead Museum, featuring the Bomber lighting rig used by Lemmy, who died last December. Immortalised on the cover of classic 1981 live album No Sleep ‘Til Hammersmith, it dominated Motörhead’s live production for years. It was then considered to be the most dangerous rock prop on the planet, as band members climbed inside or dangled from the tail fin.
