Music Legend PRINCE Dead At 57 - Rock Stars Pay Tribute
April 21, 2016, 8 years ago
Legendary musician Prince was found unresponsive this morning (Thursday, April 21st) at his home at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, a Minneapolis suburb, and later declared dead. The Grammy/Oscar/Golden Globe winning artist was 57.
Prince's publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, issued the following statement: “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.”
The local medical examiner declined to comment on the cause of Prince's death, which was first reported by TMZ. Prince was briefly hospitalized with the flu after his plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois, last week. A representative told TMZ that Prince had performed in Atlanta even though he was not feeling well and felt worse after boarding the plane for a flight back to Minnesota.
Members of the rock community have taken to social media to pay tribute to Prince. A selection can be seen below:
