According to Extremesportdrumming.com, NAMM International has announced its fourth annual quest to find the World's Fastest Drummer. This highly charged interactive event will be featured at the 2006 NAMM Winter Session in Anaheim, CA. The contest consists of two categories, Battle of the Hands and Battle of the Feet, and the preliminary heats will be held each day at Booth #4799 in NAMM’S Exhibit HALL ‘C’ starting at 11:00am Thursday, January 19th and continuing until 4.00pm Saturday, January 21st. The top ten Fastest Hands and top ten Fastest Feet will compete in a Finals Battle’of both categories held on NAMM'S main outside stage at 1:00pm Sunday, January 22nd. Included in this year’s event will be technical demonstrations, insight sessions and appearances by WFD Champions Mike Mangini, Johnny Rabb, Jotan Afanador, Art Verdi, Tim Waterson, Seth Davis, and Sam LeCompte.

“To see these guys go at it, full throttle, smooth as silk with their hands and feet moving over 19 - 20 times per second for an entire minute is simply an amazing work of technical proficiency,” says Boo McAfee, co-founder of WFD Extreme Sport Drumming.

The contest is sponsored by THE MUSIC EDGE.COM, NAMM’s new teen promotional initiative and is open to everyone attending the NAMM Winter Session.

Grand Prizes for the 2005 Winter Session contest include: two Pearl Drum-Sets, a year supply of Pro Mark drumsticks (with Winner’s name), two sets of Meinl cymbals, Axis LongBoard ‘A’ Double Pedal and 50 Remo drum heads. All contestants for both Battle Of The Hands and Battle Of The Feet competitions will be scored on playing single strokes (no bounces, presses or buzz) for ONE MINUTE and recorded by the Drumometer.
