OBSCURA Premiere New Bass Playthrough Video For “Akroasis”
December 5, 2016, 8 years ago
German technical/progressive death metal luminaries, Obscura, have just shared a new playthrough video, which features fretless bass virtuoso Linus Klausenitzer shredding his way through the title-track of the band's latest release, Akroasis. Watch below.
"When I thought to record another playthrough video, I decided for the title track of our new album Akroasis," said Linus Klausenitzer. "As it is a very atmospheric song, the bass lines are probably the easiest one to play on the whole album. This way I hope to motivate people to try playing the song themselves and to pay more attention to phrasing on bass. In this video I play my fretless Ibanez BZB7 that people ask me about very often. I recorded 90% of the album with this bass."
Produced by the band and V. Santura (Triptykon, Pestilence), Akróasis (released this past February via Relapse) is eight songs diverse enough to serve as a near-comprehensive introduction to all of extreme metal. Packed to the gills with virtuosic musicianship, compelling themes, and airtight songwriting, Akróasis has breathed new life into death metal, progressive metal and beyond. Akróasis is out now worldwide via Relapse Records on CD, 2xLP and Digital.
The Akroasis bass and guitar tab books are available via the band’s official website here. Watch the recently released guitar playthrough video for "Ten Sepiroth”:
