UK-based gothic power metallers PYTHIA's second album, The Serpent’s Curse, will be released on February 27th, 2012 on Golden Axe via Genepool/Universal in the UK.

Just in time for Yule Tide, Pythia will release the advance single, 'Betray My Heart', on December 19th, on an extremely limited edition coloured vinyl 7”, with a remixed version appearing on the B-side, and CD/Digital download with an extra little surprise for the more angelic at heart.

The new video for 'Betray My Heart' can be seen below:

Guitarist Ross recently commented: ‘Betray My Heart' is a dark, heavy and very 'full on' song. Heavy riff after heavy riff, pummeling drums, layers of epic keys and Emily's trademark soaring, emotion drenched vocals full of dark yet catchy melodies. This ain’t no sugar-coated pop metal, it's dark symphonic power-thrash metal!"

Drummer Marc recently commented on the video: "This video was all about capturing the energy and emotion of both the song itself, and the band's live shows. Pounding and aggressive, yet intimate and emotive, personal and introspective, but spewing forth a venomous assault".

The video was filmed at the majestic St. John's of Hackney at the end of summer; a fitting baptism by fire for new bassist Mark Harrington who has fitted in to the line up like a wandering bard, finally finding his way home.

Mark’s first response on coming through the door was, ‘Whew…. These guys are nuts, what have I let myself in for’, but was followed by ‘It's a real honour to be providing the bottom-end rumble to such a sterling bunch of metal warriors! I'm really looking forward to the exciting things we have planned in the next few months...

Quote from band about filming the video/excitement about releasing new album: "During the making of The Serpent's Curse we encountered the highs and lows of human experience. From the darkness of death to the wonder of birth as a band we faced these colossal events united. This album sprung from our endeavours to understand the circle of life, the mighty force of nature and our fight for survival."
