Launch Radio Networks has issued the following report from Bruce Simon:

QUEENSRŸCHE frontman Geoff Tate gave a different kind of performance last night (Wednesday, April 5th). While in New York City promoting the band's new album Operation: Mindcrime II, which came out Tuesday (April 4th), he went to Shea Stadium to do the national anthem before the hometown Mets took on the visiting Washington Nationals.

Tate played baseball as a kid, and he told us that he still enjoys the game, even if it's not his main sport these days: "I'm really a sailor. I have a, a vintage yacht, and spend a lot of money, and time, and energy restoring it, and racing it around the Seattle area. That's kind of my, my main sport. But I like baseball, and I like the history of baseball, you know? The game has been with us, you know, for so long, and so many great players have come through, and it's changed a little, but not so much. You know, it's still basically the same game, and I, I like that aspect of it."

Queensryche will play a week's worth of shows in Europe in June. Their North American tour gets underway in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, on August 25th.
